Do I have to attend St Bede’s School to swim for the Club?

Contrary to popular belief swimmers who would like to join St Bede’s Aquatic Club do NOT need to attend St Bede’s Senior School or St Bede’s Prep-school.

We already have lots of club members who are not at the St Bede’s school and quite a few of them even travel some distance so that they can swim with the Club.

St Bede’s Aquatic Club is open to all ages and all abilities - just because the Club has national level swimmers as members does not mean that swimmers of all abilities are not welcome.

What do we expect from a club swimmer?

  • To be willing to learn and want to develop their swimming skills
  • To be able to swim 25 meters Front Crawl
  • To be able to swim 25 meters Backstroke
  • To be able to swim 25 meters Breaststroke
  • To be able to swim 25 meters Fly
  • To want to be part of a team

As long as club swimmers can swim one length of each stroke that’s OK, even if the stroke is not very good we can help improve and master those strokes that need working on.

As St Bede’s Aquatic Club is based and run from St Bede’s School in Upper Dicker we benefit from some superb facilities, these include:

  • An indoor 6 lane 25 meter pool
  • A state of the art sports hall with a spurn floor (this is used for team games)
  • Sports fields and Astro Turf for team games when the UK weather allows
  • A fully equipped gym that overlooks the pool (used by the older swimmers)

Training sessions are available every weekday morning and evening plus Saturday mornings for those keen swimmers.  The amount of sessions that a swimmer would do does depend on their ability.
Our development squad has been set up to help those swimmers that need that little extra help and coaching so that their skills can be improved and they build up their stamina.

For parents of cub swimmers there is a free car park, poolside viewing, drinks machines and plenty of space for siblings to play if they are hanging around during the session.

Dual club membership – if a swimmer already swims for a club but would like join St Bede’s Aquatic Club there is no reason from our side why they cannot be a member of both. Just because they are swimming at St Bede’s does not mean they can’t still be involved with their current club if they wish.

If you would like to know more or would like to have a look around the facility please give Kevin a call or just drop in one evening and see for yourself what we have to offer.
