Kevin Ayers
Head Coach Kevin Ayers brings you his wealth of experience and knowledge as Head Coach to St. Bede's Senior School and St. Bede's Aquatic Club and previously Berkhamsted Barracudas.
Kevin has been a professional swimming coach for over twenty five years. Over the course of those years, Kevin has seen how coaching techniques have evolved and how technology has now become part of a swimmer's overall development. Technology in conjunction with a swimmer's own intrinsic ability: their posture, line and balance means that taken as a whole, all these factors contribute to successful performance swimming.
During his time as a coach Kevin has worked with many international/national swimmers: a former Scottish record holder, a European Junior Silver medallist and many national medallists:
Kerry-Ann Newton 1992 Silver & Bronze European Juniors
David Paxton 1991 Silver 400IM & Bronze medals European Juniors
Helen Bollins 1992 Silver & Bronze European Juniors
Sam Hunter former Scottish record holder 400IM
Andrew Hunter 400m Free National Youth Champion 2002.
Since being at St Bede's Kevin has helped many more swimmers attain swimming success. Two swimmers from St Bede's who have achieved recognition are:
Edward Castro GB Open Water / Distance Camp.
Alex Jameson part of the 2012 group of swimmers.
Kevin himself was a member of the GB Select Coaches group for 2006/2007.
Coaching techniques and performance training are constantly evolving. Kevin often travels to the USA to keep up-to-date with swimming science by watching and learning from some of the best professional coaches in the world.
