Newsletter December 2008

Published on 12 December 2008

Hi Swimmers,

It's been some time since we sent out a newsletter so it's about time that you were brought up-to-date with what's happing at Streamline Sports.

TYR Tracer Light News!
We finally have the new TYR Tracer lights in stock (‘At last' I hear you say).  There is limited availability on stock and sizes so make sure you get yours ordered to prevent disappointment. If you go to our website you can read what Harrite Lambourne has to say about the Tracer.

New Products
One of our new products that we have now added is the Front Snorkel this snorkel has been selling really well and is a great price at only £13.95. If you have never tried training with a front snorkel then you should in my opinion - they are just great for all age groups to master swimmers.

Drills for You to Try
If you have a front snorkel one of the drills we do with the Snorkel is the: Head leaded switch drill:
Eyes looking down at the bottom of the pool (never look forward as your hips will drop down)
Flat back, ribs in
Put your arms in the saddle (not by your side)
Kick should be easy
Rotate to both sides holding posture, line and balance at all times
Rotation comes from the bottom of the hips
Take your top side on to your balance line.
Let me know how you get on with this great drill.

Goggles
Check out the new colours in the rocket socket range - they look great. Colours in red/silver and emerald.
Remember when buying goggles they should fit in the eyes not around the eyes.

Team Kit
TYR does a great range of team kit from suits, bags, tracksuits and hoodies.  If you would like costs on any of these products then please email me - you will find our prices which are very competitive.

Mentor Hand Paddle
We find these to be a great hand paddle as we set them up so that you use just one strap tubing that fits around one finger.  We do not wear the other straps which means you have to hold the water - if they come off it's because you are not swimming correctly. With the holes in the paddle it lets you feel the water.

Nutrition
As you all know nutrition is very important to swimmers both in training and competition. To help you get this right High5 - a sports drink and recovery drink will be added to the website very soon so you will be able to order online.

As my swimmers will know I have used both the sports drink and the recovery drink for a number of years now and find it to be very good.

Swim Clinic's
We still have a few places left for our Christmas swim clinics on the following dates:

20th Dec Freestyle [Booking form] or [Book online]
21st Dec Backstroke [Booking form] or [Book online]
22nd Dec Breaststroke [Booking form] or [Book online]
23rd Dec Butterfly [Booking form] or [Book online]
24th Dec Starts and Turns [Booking form] or [Book online]

All of the clinics run from 9:00 - 13:00 and are aimed at swimmers aged 8 - 16 years.  If you would like to find out more please visit the website to book online, call or just email me.

We also now have the summer swim clinic dates booked, these dates will be on the website very soon after the Christmas clinics have finished.

If you have never been to one of our swim clinics you will find them very interesting and educational.  In the clinic we will work on your skills and drills; you will be coached by me and I will explain why we do the drill, what the outcome of that drill is and what effect this has on your swimming.

You will also come away with information about what you have been learning in the clinic so that you can put this into practice within your club environment.

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
