Penultimate round of the County Championships

Published on 09 March 2009

The St Bede's squad were again at the Freedom Leisure K2 Centre at Crawley for the penultimate round of the County Championships.
Tom Lamb (age 16) who had come agonisingly close to a National Qualifying Time (NQT) in the last round was in determined mood and won the Junior Championship in the 200m IM and 200m Breaststroke - his first NQT surely cannot be far away. Mike Faber added the 200m IM to his portfolio of National events and Stephanie Ketley and Harriet Lambourne also made NQT's.
Every swimmer contributed to the St Bede's points total making finals in practically every event they swum and they are now lying in a good second position with only one more long distance event to go in 2 weeks time. Head Coach Kevin Ayers was delighted with the performances, “the whole squad were fantastic, and the points tally they have achieved is awesome when you look at the size of the squad. We have a great team spirit and they deserve their success.” For information on swimming for St Bede's Aquatics go to www.streamlinesports.co.uk.
