St Bede’s senior swimming squad made their way to the Northampton Open Meet
Travelling farther afield, the St Bede’s senior swimming squad made their way to the Corby International Pool for the Northampton Open Meet.
This was a top class event attracting the very best swimmers and as usual the St Bede’s swimmers rose to the occasion. Stephanie Ketley (16) made three National Championship Qualification times (50m Free, 100m Free, 400m Free), taking a brilliant Gold medal in the 400m Free for good measure.
Will Condron (14) missed a National Time for the 100m free by less than ½ of a second and it will surely not be long before he books his place at Sheffield. Katherine Horsfall-Turner made a big improvement on her 200m Fly to finish in 2.43.63 to claim a well deserved silver medal.
The rest of the squad (Andrew Horsfall-Turner (15), Ben Jones (15), Mary Carless (15), Eve Carless (13) also swam superbly making personal best times and achieving many Regional Qualification times.
Meanwhile a lone St Bede’s swimmer Tom Lamb (17) was swimming at the Atlantis Open meet as he was chasing his 200m Fly National Time. Head Coach Kevin Ayers received a call from a delighted Tom saying he had made it, coming home in a great time of 2.10.46.
