St Bedes swimmers swim at the 2008 Welsh National Championships in Cardiff
Two of the St Bede's swimmers went in search of their Welsh roots to swim at the 2008 Welsh National Championships in Cardiff and very quickly the journey proved to be worthwhile.
Katherine Horsfall Turner (aged 11) took silver medal in the 200m Butterfly in a time of 2.53.87 and then the bronze medal in the 1500m Freestyle in 20.57.85 taking an incredible one minute of her previous best.
In a determined mood, Katherine then only just missed medals finishing 4th in the 100m Butterfly (1.20.82), 800m Freestyle (10.52.25) and 400 Individual Medley.
Also in form was 14 year old brother Andrew who narrowly missed a medal in the 200m Butterfly coming in 4th place in a time of 2.31.13 taking 3 seconds off from his previous personal best. Andrew had four other top 10 finishes in the 800m Freestyle, 400m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle and 1500m Freestyle.
Head swimming Coach Kevin Ayers was suitably impressed commenting, “here were two young swimmers at the top of their game visibly demonstrating that all the hard work and effort that they put in training is now starting to pay off.”
Andrew and Katherine were using the following TYR competition swimwear:
