Sussex at the Inter Counties 2009 Championships at Sheffield
St Bede’s swimmers Michael Faber (aged 17), Stephanie Ketley (16), Harriet Lambourne (16) and Evan Draper (13) were selected to swim for Sussex at the Inter-Counties Championships at Sheffield.
In a closely fought competition, Sussex came 10th out of the 20 counties in Division 1, with Lancashire winning the overall title for the 8th year in succession.
Michael Faber swum an impressive 100m Freestyle in 52.52 to take his first National Qualifying time of the season and Stephanie Ketley did the same in the 100m Back in 1.05.53. Faber then went on to swim the freestyle leg of the medley relay as Sussex took a superb fourth place.
Harriet Lambourne, although still struggling with a back injury, swum 1.06.49 for the 100m Fly.
Combining forces in the girls medley relay Ketley and Lambourne helped Sussex to an excellent 5th place.
Taking part in his first major competition, Evan Draper swum a great breaststroke to finish in 1.17.16.
