The St Bedes squad travelled to Cambridge for the City of Cambridge Open Meet
The St Bede's squad travelled to Cambridge to take part in the City of Cambridge Swimming Club's Open Meet. There are several time barriers in the swimming world and seemingly one of the more difficult is to go under 1 minute for the 100m freestyle - certainly of late, that would apply to Andrew Horsfall-Turner (age 14) as he has come agonisingly close on a number of occasions. This would finally be his weekend as he finished the race in a time of 59.96 to a roar of approval from the St Bede's supporters. Ben Jones (14) out of the news for a little while, has been training hard and is showing signs of returning form as he took medals this weekend.

Girls: Charlotte Chapman (10), Silver 100m Back 1.28.18, 200m Back 3.04.73; Katherine H-Turner (11), Gold 200m Fly 2.58.84, Silver 100m Fly 1.25.34, 400m IM 6.10.83, 400m Free 5.17.09; Cristina Richards (13), Silver 200m Fly 2.43.53, Bronze 200m Breast 2.58.50; Mary Carless (14) Gold 100m Free 1.02.63; Stephanie Ketley (15), Gold 50m Free 28.70, 100m Back 1.08.15, Bronze 200m IM 2.31.76.
Head Coach Kevin Ayers was pleased with the results as the squad has been training extremely hard and the squad is “swimming tired”.
